  25.             The Boston University Online Catalog (TOMUS) provides access
  26.             to  over  one  and a half million volumes and two and a half
  27.             million microforms.  The collection represents a majority of
  28.             holdings for all libraries on campus.

  30.             TOMUS is made by Carlyle Systems Inc. located in  Emeryville
  31.             CA.   The system implements a simple keyword searching stra-
  32.             tegy   to   locate   information   in    various    indexes:
  33.             author,title,subject  and  call  number among them.  Records
  34.             can be displayed using several display formats: brief,  nor-
  35.             mal and full.

  37.             The online help screens are a valuable  tool  for  beginners
  38.             but become unnecessary after several uses.
